Inadequacy Wolf

It’s garbage day, and just as I’ve missed a few garbage day posts, I’ve accumulated extra garbage at home.

They say it’s “busy season” at work. I’m guessing that in a 35,000 square foot building where something is always happening, that houses fewer than 10 full-time employees, it’s always going to be busy season.

So I’ve let some things slide. Today, even though I’ve filled the garbage cans to the top (and beyond), I’m going to squeeze in this feeling of inadequacy. Maybe I’ll throw it in the yard waste bin, which is sadly empty this week.

We could probably know a lot about people by measure of the yard waste bin. We could exchange pleasantries. “How’s it going?” “I had a good work/life balance this week, so my yard waste bin is nearly full!” Or even, “empty yard waste bin this week, I need to make more time for myself.”

This week there is plenty of room in my yard waste bin, just the food scraps the dogs didn’t claim. So I’m sending away the feeling that I’m not doing enough.

To be honest, work/life balance isn’t my goal. Living and working becoming one is my actual goal. You know what they say, “find what you love and you’ll never work another day in your life.” That’s me. I love my job.

So I need to let it be okay that I’m too tired to do some things. I’m doing enough. Every day I should celebrate the amount that I accomplish instead of focusing on the things that didn’t go great.

There is plenty of room for negativity in the yard waste bin, and there is lots of room for celebration in my day-to-day life. Which Wolf do I feed? I know which one is going in the yard waste bin.
